Accessing Surveillance File Details

Surveillance files are where details regarding the patient, surveillance activities, and outcomes (including infections) are recorded. Because reports are based on surveillance files, it is important to record each infection only once and in a separate file. This process is referred to as classifying the file and begins by opening the surveillance file from the Patient Search page (Adding File Details), clicking the View File link from an inbox follow-up, or by opening the patient menu file option or the File List page (see below).

To access surveillance files details:

  1. Access the File List page and filter the list of files to locate the file (Viewing and Filtering Files).
  2. Tip: Use the search feature to find the files you would like to classify (Searching for Specific Files).
