Surveillance File Components

A surveillance file contains sections, grids, fields, and widgets. Some fields are mandatory, meaning that you must complete them before the file can be saved or the detail can be added to the file.

  1. Header – displays the file number.
  2. Patient Details – shows the patient name and provides links to the patient's inbox, files, events, and contact tracing grid. Click the Details link to view more information about the patient.
  3. Note: An exclamation icon may appear next to the patient's name when an isolation precaution has been added for the patient.
  4. Grids (Adding Grid Details) – used to add infection related outcomes, isolation precautions, comments and more.
  5. Fields – appear in the dialog boxes when you add information to a grid.
    1. Mandatory Fields – marked with a green asterisk, these fields must be completed in order to save the file or add the details.
    2. Field Descriptions – hover over the blue question mark icon to view a description of the field, as defined by your administrator.
  6. Buttons – used to save the surveillance file and return to the FilesClosedThe electronic record created when a user submits an incident report, such as a fall or medication error, or when a patient provides feedback. Some organizations refer to files as events, reports, or cases. page. Use the Print button to generate a printer friendly version of the file.
  7. WidgetsClosedA collapsible area of the page that displays both fixed and dynamic content, such as a list of relevant files, reports, folders and more. (File Widget Descriptions) – provide you with additional information about the file or patient.
  8. Download and Export to FTP buttons - used to either export a surveillance file in XMLClosedExtensible Markup Language. A structured electronic file that allows you to exchange information between computer systems. format or send a surveillance file to an FTP address.
