Using Existing Files for an Inbox Event

RL6:Infection allows you to link events to existing surveillance files. This allows you build a complete picture of the infection in one central location while cleaning out the inbox.

To use an existing file for an Inbox event:

  1. Access an inbox and search for events (see Selecting Search Criteria).
  2. Click the Use an Existing File radio button. The Choose the FilesClosedThe electronic record created when a user submits an incident report, such as a fall or medication error, or when a patient provides feedback. Some organizations refer to files as events, reports, or cases. to Use with this EventClosedA patient or employee related occurrence which is recorded in paper or electronic format. Once recorded, an event file is reviewed by a file manager who may involve other individuals (e.g. using tasks and follow-ups features) to help investigate and resolve the event. dialog opens.
  3. Check the box next to the surveillance file(s) to which the event should be attached.
  4. Note: If you have selected files from the summary list, as shown here, they will also be checked when the Choose the Files to Use with the Event dialog opens.
  5. Click OK.
