Changing Primary Files

You can change which primary file is associated with a duplicate file.

Note: this capability is only available to users with the Manage Primary/Duplicate FilesClosedThe electronic record created when a user submits an incident report, such as a fall or medication error, or when a patient provides feedback. Some organizations refer to files as events, reports, or cases. role function.

To change the primary file associated with a duplicate:

  1. Open the duplicate file you want to change the primary file for (not shown, see Navigating the File Info Center (page 1)).
  2. In the File Notifications side panel, click Primary File to view the primary file callout.
  3. To compare the information for the current file and its existing primary file, click Compare next to the current primary file's link.
  4. In the File search box, search for the file you want to make the primary file.
  5. To compare the information for the current file and the new primary file, click Compare next to the File search box.
  6. Click Change Primary. The file is now added as a primary file.
