Adding New Events

In the example below, a central line insertion event will be added:

To add new events:

  1. Access the Patient Events page of the patient for whom you would like to add an event (Patient Events and Activities).
  2. Select the sidebar item for the event type you would like to add. In the example, we will add a Central Line Insertion.
  3. Click the New Central Line Insertion link. The fields associated with this type of event appear on the right side of the page.
  4. At a minimum, complete the required fields (marked with a green asterisk), but it is best to provide as much detail as possible.
    For central line insertions, there are no required fields. Other events, however, may have multiple required fields.
  5. Click Save. Two things happen:
    1. A new Central line Insertion is added to the patient record. Click the [+] to view the additional details that can be added to the event. In this example, you may also add Reason and Skin Preparation details to the central line insertion.
    2. The Follow-UpClosed1. (For Infection) Another term for a surveillance file, which is created when the user selects Yes from the Choose a follow-up action control. 2. (For RL6) A file related action taken after the file has been submitted. Examples of follow-ups include investigative notes, meetings with different parties, consultation with patient family. control appears ( RL6:Infection Follow-up Actions) so that you can create a surveillance file from the new event, if desired.
