Changing User Settings

The Settings tab is used to assign the user’s security policy (Security Policies) and User Time Zone, Dashboard Group and Icon Wall template. You may also change a user’s status from this tab. See External Authentication Fields for details on external authentication related fields (User Profile Update Method, Site, DepartmentClosedThe department or section within the laboratory that performs the tests., and Location3 through Location10).

To change user settings:

  1. Access the User dialog box (Creating, Editing or Copying a User): and click the Settings tab.
  2. Select a User Profile Update Method:
    1. Internal-Application – specifies that the system searches for the user’s scopes and roles within RL6. As a result, System Admins can customize roles and scopes for these users.
    2. External-LDAPClosedLightweight Directory Access Protocol is an application protocol for accessing and maintaining distributed directory information services over an Internet Protocol (IP) network. LDAP is a type of external authentication that can be used by your organization to maintain your login and password./AD – specifies that the system searches your organization’s directory service for user scopes and roles. This option will override any changes by the System Admin.
  3. Select a Security Policy (Security Policies).
  4. Select a Status:
    1. Active – allows access to RL6.
    2. InActive – prevents access to RL6.
    3. Locked Out – the system changes the status to Locked Out when the security policy is violated.
  5. (Optional) Assign a Time Zone, Dashboard Group, and/or Icon Wall Template.
