Form Designer Action Buttons

The action buttons appear above the list of forms and section templates. When a record is selected, the Open, Copy, Delete, Rename and Preview buttons become active. The Delete button remains active when multiple records are selected. The Add and Reset buttons are always active:

Section

Creates a new form or section template. FormsClosedA number of fields grouped together by sections to allow users to enter and store data related to a patient or employee event. You can define multiple forms for a module. Forms fall into two categories: submission forms (i.e. for front line entry users) and management forms (i.e. for file manager users). Management forms contain the same data as submission forms with added sections for follow-up investigations and resolutions and outcomes. are made up of section templates; in order to create a form, you must first create section templates. See Navigating the Form Designer for details. The Platform Select dialog appears and you must select if the form or section is made for access from a Desktop (e.g. a computer workstation) or from the mobile application. Once you select the platform and create your form or section, the platform chosen cannot be changed.

Note: All management forms must be created by selecting Desktop platform because you can only manage submissions from a PC.

Edit

Form
Section

Allows you to view and modify the selected form or section. When a form uses section templates, you may not edit their contents directly in the form. See Navigating the Form Designer for details on using the form and section designer.

Copy

Form
Section

Creates a new copy of the form or section template. The Copy Form/Section dialog appears:

Delete

Form
Section

Removes the form or section template from the system, with the following caveats:

  • Form – if the form has been assigned an icon (Updating Icon Wall Icons), it will also be deleted. If corresponding icon was used in an Icon Wall template (Managing Icon Wall Templates), it will be removed there, too. A warning message is not displayed if the form is currently in use.
  • Section Template – if the section template has been added to a form, an informational message appears. You cannot delete section templates that are in use.

Preview

Form
Section

Shows you how the form or section will look and behave for the end user. When previewing section templates, you might see a blank dialog. This happens when a section’s visibility is based on another field in the form. In the Best Practices taxonomy, for example, the Injury Details section appears after the Injury Occurred field is set to Yes; because this section is not visible by default, you cannot preview it. Instead, preview a form to which it has been added and set the Injury Occurred field to Yes. The preview refreshes and the section appears.

In addition, the preview feature cannot be used to view your follow-up configurations. The follow-ups dialog appears when a link in the Follow-UpClosed1. (For Infection) Another term for a surveillance file, which is created when the user selects Yes from the Choose a follow-up action control. 2. (For RL6) A file related action taken after the file has been submitted. Examples of follow-ups include investigative notes, meetings with different parties, consultation with patient family. Actions widget is clicked, but widgets are not displayed in the preview dialog.

Generate Workbook

Form Section

Allows you to export one or more forms into a word document that describes the visibility, mandatory, read-only and availability setting for fields, clusters and sections of the selected form(s). Pick listClosedA predefined list of options from which a user can select to populate a field. values and other form attributes will also be shown. This document can be used by administrators to assess how forms are configured when considering future form modifications. See Generating a Workbook from a Form

Reset

Form
Section

Clears the search criteria and returns the list of forms or section templates to its initial state.

Rename

Section

Allows you to change the name of the section template. The Section Rename dialog appears:

A confirmation message displays when you click OK. You should only rename a section when you are sure that no other administrator is making edits to it. Click Yes to change the name.
