Modifying an Existing Report

All users can modify the reports they create and public reports cannot be modified by anyone other than the initial creator. However, if you would like to modify a public report that is not your own, you would have to create a new report with a new title based on the existing one. This is done because other users may rely on public reports and would not be aware that changes were made. Reports are edited in the Report Editor, which can be accessed using the action links (shown below) or the navigation links when a report has been generated (Generated Reports in RL6:Infection).

To modify an existing report:

  1. Click the Report Center button.
  2. Check the box next to the report to which you would like to make changes.
  3. Click the Edit link. The Report Editor page opens and presents the details of the selected report in the various sections.
  4. Modify the report, as desired. See Selecting the Chart Type for a description of the fields contained in each section.
  5. Click one of the following buttons:
    1. Run Report – to save your changes, save a new report and/or generate a report. If you have changed the report Title field, as shown, a confirmation dialog opens; click Yes to update the title.
    2. Note: If you are modifying the report Title field, keep in mind that it must be unique across the system.
    3. Save as New Report and Run – to use the existing report as a template and generate a new one. In order to use this button, you must have modified the report Title field. An error message displays if report title already exists. If you are editing another user's public report, you must use this option.
