Creating Policy Towers

A policy tower consists of all the tiers and policies within one policy year. In the example below, a policy – the lowest level in the policy tower – is created. The instructions for creating Policy Years and Tiers are very similar to what is described below. The main variation is in step five, where each level has its own set of fields: for Policy Year (Policy Year Fields), Tier (Policy Tier Fields), and Policy (Policy Field Types ).

Prerequisites: The 'Insurance Policies and Carriers' role function must be enabled and a product license is required.

To create policy towers:

  1. In the Insurance Policy Tower Configuration page (see Insurance Policy Towers), select the node under which the new tier or policy should be added.
  2. Click New. The Add Menu dialog opens.
  3. Choose one of the following options:
    1. Add a Policy Year to create a new policy year (page 1).
    2. Add a Tier once a policy year or tier has been selected (page 1).
    3. Add a Policy once a tier or policy has been selected (page 1).
  4. Click OK. A series of blank fields appear next to the policy tree in the right panel.
  5. At a minimum, complete the required fields.
  6. Click Save (not shown). A new year, tier or policy appears in the tree.
  7. To copy existing policy years, tiers or policy, select the item and click Copy.
The item is copied with all its children, e.g., a copy of a tier also copies all the policies within that tier.
