Surveillance File Entries

As you document your findings in the surveillance file, you may find that you must delete, edit or add details to existing entries. The actions you can take vary based on the section. For the Comments section, for example, entries cannot be deleted and you may only edit the notations you have made.

To work with surveillance file entries:

  1. Open a file (not shown, see Accessing Surveillance File Details).
  2. Locate the section containing the entry you would like to modify and select the adjacent radio button. Additional action links become active.
  3. Click one of the following links:
    1. Edit – to open the dialog box used to create the entry, as shown in this example.
    2. Delete – to remove the entry.
  4. Caution! When deleting grid entries, a confirmation dialog is not displayed. Make sure you have selected the correct row before clicking Delete.
    1. Add Classification – opens the same dialog used to enter a disease, organism or infection. The organism fields are pre-populated with only the classification fields requiring entry.
  5. Modify the fields, as desired.
  6. Click OK. The surveillance file is updated.
  7. Click Save or Save & Exit to finalize your changes.
